Last Saturday was Trooping the Colour, this year being the 2nd Battalion, Coldstream Guards, who are also celebrating their 375th anniversary since their founding in 1650. They are the longest continuously serving regiment in the British Army. If you missed it, you can see it all on BBC iPlayer, with and without commentary.

Another Napoleonic "imagi-nation" game last week, this time Scenario No. 2 in Mr Asquith's book "Scenarios for all ages". As I have only a six by four feet board available at the moment, I scaled down his map to fit the terrain, but otherwise I kept the opposing sides as given in the scenario. I played the attackers - Arcadia - as the defence - Nemea - just had to hold the area of hills and the river in order to prevent their opponents breaking through. I used my Napoleonic version of the Perry ACW "Firepower" rules again. Victory went to the defenders, who held out against a series of infantry assaults, as well as a belated cavalry charge, on their right wing, and a rather timid commander on the attackers' right.
Here is a collection of photographs, with captions added for the end of appropriate turns and extra details about the units involved.
