The Glory Boardgame

Anyone remember this game? I had a friend in the 1980s who had it. I saw it on Colonel Bill's site and bought it at a very low price. I thought I could play it solo, but once I set it up, I realised it was not really practical. Basic counters and map, very simple rules, a bit like "Risk" but the advanced level rules in The Glory adds more finance and diplomacy than that game.

Anyway, getting this game has prompted me to look out for some more boardgames from the 1980s and 1990s I used to play - SPI, Avalon Hill, etc., and go through the ones I still have. Something different from figure games.

  1. Never heard of this game and I have a large collection from the 80s and 90s.

  2. A win-win if it gets you to reacquaint yourself with some good boardgames.

  3. The name of this game popped into my head, after waking from a dream about a nameless game. While the Glory is almost certainly not that game, I looked it up anyway, and remembered at least the box art, but very little about the game, although the blurb says it was Risk- like, which makes sense.

Would you mind if I put this picture on board game geek, just for the record? The only image there is of the box. Mind you, the picture does confirm others' opinions that the components are super cheap. And somebody has had the cheek to put it on eBay for £60+! I'd hate to be the blind recipient of that purchase, so maybe a picture would be relevant.

  4. Yes, feel free to put it on Boardgame Geek. I would not have paid £60 for it! Sorry for the late response, I have been moving house!
